Why does soy make me gassy

As I mentioned, soy protein is commercially available in three different forms. If soy is causing you gas it has a lot to do with what kind of soy protein you are consuming.
The whole bean is ground up into fine flour or coarse meal. All, or nearly all, fats, starches, and carbohydrates present in the whole bean are present in the flour. There are three different kinds of soy flour:. Of all the different kinds of soy products, these soy flours are the most minimally processed. They are, however, the most likely to give you gas. This is because soy flour contains all of the components in the whole bean. It is high in oligosaccharides.
For others, these compounds may not necessarily cause discomfort. Every human body reacts to these compounds differently. Some people are unaffected while others show extreme reactivity. It has a lot to do with your gut bacteria in the large intestine and colon. It also has to do with how much soy products you are consuming.
Soy protein concentrate SPC is a product that is quite a bit more refined, though not as intensely processed as soy protein isolate. Most carbohydrates are removed from the soybean while leaving most of the fiber. Does soy protein concentrate cause gas? Those pesky oligosaccharides are effectively eliminated through processing. Soy milk is probably not the best way to use soy. Also, the way soy is grown and processed today may not make it a good choice for many people.
I get a bloated stomach after my first cup of tea in the morning containing soya milk. I ran out of soya milk and used semi skimmed milk for two weeks and all of a sudden I realised my bloated stomach has gone flat. So I Googled does soya milk cause bloating and was surprised to read it could be the cause. I never suffered any any other symptoms with soya milk.
I love soya milk and soya lattes in particular — but every time I drink one I get a really bad stomach ache 5 minutes later and gas. So I think I must be one of those people with an intolerance.
